Coffee and bikes. It’s a marriage of two crafts that just seems to work, almost every time. It’s a fusion that’s become so popular of late that some might consider it a cliché. But screw those people. As a coffee lover and an avid (albeit extremely out of form) cyclist I’ll always get behind a space that lets you sip decent brews whilst checking out some beautiful two-wheeled steeds. Coffee and Cycle is Onibus Coffee’s latest venture that is located inside the Ratio & C concept store by Bridgestone. The space is huge and the attention to detail is second to none. There’s a full mechanic’s workshop where riders can spec a Bridgestone build from scratch, along with some tasty bicycle and lifestyle accessories including the full suite of Brooks saddles and tape.
If you’ve been following The Directory Coffee for a while then you’ll know I’m a fan of Onibus Coffee. They’re putting out some seriously awesome roasts for both filter and espresso, and Coffee and Cycle at Ratio & C is a beautiful extension of their brand. The hardware setup is similar to their smaller shop About Life Coffee Brewers, with a LaMarzocco PB teamed to a couple of Roburs. More than solid in anyone’s book. Whilst you’re there, take note of the cups you’re sipping from too. Onibus commissioned local ceramicist Yumiko Iihoshi to produce the custom colour in her Un Jour cups and man do they look awesome.
Coffee and Cycle at Ratio & C – ride there, walk there, train it, I don’t care, but definitely put it on your Tokyo list.
